Where would we ‘bee’ without pollinator’s? That was the question that Rocksprings 7th graders answered this past December as they composed their scientific essay to submit to The Upper Nueces-Frio Soil & Water Conservation District for the 2020 Poster and Essay Contest. Mrs. Patricia Sanders helped them complete the research and foundational knowledge of the process and then Mrs. Marsha McQueen helped them to wrap it all into a cohesive essay that retained their individual writers’ voices. At that point, they were submitted and the waiting began.

Since that time, the essays were considered alongside submissions from other schools in Real and Edwards County and split into two age groups: Junior Division (300 word maximum) for those ages 13 and under, and Senior Division (500 word maximum) for those ages 14 to 18). The results are finally in and are quite spectacular. “We are just so proud of our students for their diligence and focus on this lengthy research project that spanned across two different classes.” said Mrs. McQueen.
