After seeing this vehicle involved in the wreck, it’s a miracle all these people involved in this crash were not killed.

USPS No. , Edwards Co. Sheriff’s Deputy Ruiz struckbyvehicle, life flighted to San Antonio 4thwhile traf

On Wednesday, September 4th, while performing a traffic stop on US HWY 377S in Edwards County, Deputy Adrian Ruiz was struck by a moving vehicle while out of his patrol unit. Deputy Ruiz was life flighted to San Antonio as was the driver of the vehicle he had initially pulled over. Highway 377 was closed for a while until the scene was cleaned up.

In earlier reports, Deputy Ruiz’ injuries included a possible fractured femur, broken elbow, severe bruising and concussion. Neck, back and head injuries are still being evaluated at this time. However, recent reports state no broken bones. Ruiz is now at home recovering from injuries.

The driver who caused this accident involving Deputy Ruiz and another motorist has been identified as Carlos Antonio Alanis of Rio Grande City, TX. Alanis reportedly stated that he had fallen asleep at the wheel. He did not sustain any major injuries.
