Town Hall meeting called to discuss possible closure of EMS services
An article in last week’s paper explained the history of Edwards County EMS as a volunteer agency and that paid medics from out of town are not the answer. A hybrid volunteer/paid system will probably be the only way this service survives. This means local citizens must share the dream of EMS in Edwards County. The county contract for this service expires October 1. If there are not enough medics to fill all shifts by then, this service will NOT be providing emergency medical service to Edwards County. It is also a very real possibility that, if there is not enough response to the driver and EMR classes planned, this service will NOT be able to fulfill the current contract through October 1.
