Council votes to prohibit “Jake Braking”
The City Council of Rocksprings held a second open meeting for public comment in regards to the council’s approval of a proposed increase of the fiscal year 2019-2020 City of Rocksprings Tax Rate to 0.5511/$100 value, as well as for discussing approving the budget for the City of Rocksprings for Fiscal year 2019-2020. There were no public participants present for this public hearing. In closing remarks made by City Secretary Katherine Harris she stated, “We have climbed almost all the way out of the hole!” (in regards to the city’s financial deficit).
Following the public hearing the Council, under the direction of Mayor Pro Tem Lawanda Goller, held a regularly scheduled city council meeting. Council Member Ray Chapa was not able to attend, however, all other council members were in attendance.
City resident Efrain Castillo participated in open public forum expressing his concerns that his water bill has been higher than normal lately. Public Works Director Rudy Ramirez communicated with Castillo offering to meet with him at his residence to check out and/or discover any issues that may be causing an increase in Mr. Castillo’s water bill.
