Claud H. Gilmer Memorial Library awarded CARES Grant to advance digital equity
Rocksprings, TX- The Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) recently awarded funding to the Claud H. Gilmer Memorial Library under the TSLAC CARES Grant program. After submitting a competitive grant application, the Claud H. Gilmer Memorial Library was selected to receive $24,928 to advance digital equity for Rocksprings ISD and Edwards County patrons. Provided by the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, the funding will be used by the library to expand digital inclusion efforts and provide technical support, especially for workforce development and broadband availability. “All community members and RISD families have the right to digital resources like high speed broadband that are essential for learning, working, and daily life,” said Kristen Satterfield, Library Director. “Our library strives to provide barrier-free access to broadband and educate/assist our school and community in using digital resources, and this CARES Act grant will put us closer to that goal.”
“The community patrons and RISD families we serve will benefit tremendously from this funding, and we look forward to implementing new programs and expanding our existing resources to support digital equity for all of our patrons,” said Allison Schnack, Children’s Librarian.
