Over 17,000 illegal migrants take refuge under Del Rio International Bridge -- U.S Department of Homeland Security warns of urgent humanitarian crisis

To say the Texas Department of Public Safety and U.S. Border Patrol have had quite the time handling the border situation lately would be putting it lightly. Last Friday, Del Rio Mayor Bruno Lozano declared a local state of disaster for the city as thousands of illegal migrants (mostly Haitian) took refuge under the Del Rio International Bridge connecting the city to the country of Mexico. He then closed off all toll booths on the international bridge connecting the city to Ciudad Acuña to keep traffic from entering the bridge as a safety precaution.

Substation No. 14 (Research Station) receives official Texas Historical Marker

Edwards County, Texas – The Texas Historical Commission (THC) has recognized Substation No. 14 as a significant part of Texas history by awarding it an Official Texas Historical Marker. The designation honors Substation No. 14, now known as the Texas A&M AgriLife Research Station as an important and educational part of local history.
