Five RHS powerlifters head for State

Boys Regional Powerlifting Meet Results-March 11th

Six of the Rocksprings powerlifters traveled to Bishop, Texas to compete against 47 other Division 3 (A-3A) schools at the regional championship. At the end of the day the Angoras placed 4th in the region and 4 athletes advanced to the state meet to be held on March 25th in Abilene, Texas. To advance to the state meet lifters must finish in the top two or post a qualifying total based on weight class.

• Diego Perez (148 wt class) totaled 1200 lbs and finished in 2nd place.

• Raziel Galindo (181 wt class) totaled 1350 lbs and finished in 2nd place.

• Razi also won the award for Best Deadlift.

• John Paul Cordova (220 wt class) totaled 1500 lbs and finished 3rd.

• Johnny Gomez (114 wt class) totaled 850 lbs and finished 6th.

•Both John Paul and Johnny posted totals that qualify them for the state meet.

• Juan Flores (165 wt class) totaled 1145 lbs, a 30 lb personal record and finished 8th.

• Jason Flores (275 wt class) totaled 1305 lbs and finished 8th.

All the lifters did a great job this year. Congratulations to those lifters who advanced to state, keep up the good work. Lady Angora, Nikki Rangel, also advanced to the state meet and will join the group for the competition.
