Edwards County’s oldest veteran, Jesse Aldrich presents American flag to Sheriff Pam Elliott during Memorial Day Remembrance at Rocksprings Cemetery, May 27th.
They gave their lives
On the morning of Memorial Day out at the Rocksprings Cemetery the Edwards County Historical Commission hosted a wonderful remembrance ceremony for our country’s military men and women who died in service.
After Kari Cloudt welcomed everyone to the ceremony and provided the audience with some Memorial Day history, veteran Jesse Aldrich presented the properly folded American flag to Sheriff Pamela Elliott, who then walked it over to the deputies on guard at the flag pole. The deputies stood in salute as the flag was being raised, and at half staff the Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all. Carolyn Pipes proceeded to lead the crowd in song while Carl Cloudt beautifully played the National Anthem on his violin. Cookies and drinks were a refreshing treat after the ceremony ended.
The Edwards County Historical Commission always does a superb job of honoring our nation’s heros. Thank you!
