Southwest Texas Telephone becomes Southwest Texas Communications
Rocksprings, TX – October 1, 2017 – Southwest Texas Telephone Company is excited to announce it is changing its name to Southwest Texas Communications and rolling out a new logo. The rebranding reflects the importance of high-speed internet and connectivity, and the company’s long-standing commitment to deliver the best communications services possible to its customers.
Over the past several months Southwest Texas Telephone has made significant investments in its network to deliver faster internet connections and has upgraded 766 customers to 3 megabits per second (Mbps) service. “High-speed internet is an essential quality-of-life service that improves the lives of residents and spurs economic growth,” explained the company’s CEO, Gary Gilmer.
“It is important that our company image reflects our 119-year legacy of providing the communications services our customers want and need.” The company has responded to the call for faster online experiences by installing more than 500 miles of fiber-optic lines to support speeds of up to 100 Mbps to its service area. General Manager, Steve Evans added,
“we made the decision to upgrade all our customers to ensure everyone can enjoy popular online activities such as streaming standard definition movies and shows via Netflix and Hulu. Those on the 6 Mbps plan have been upgraded to 10 Mbps and those that subscribed to our lowest speed have been upgraded to our new baseline download speed of 3 Mbps.”
