School district and city voters come out in full force for council and trustee elections

The City of Rocksprings Council Members and Rocksprings ISD Board of Trustees elections drew a large number of voters to the polls. Both in the early voting and the actual Election Day of May 5th showed a large turnout of interested voters. There are 659 registered voters in the City of Rocksprings. 141 voted with a 21% voter turnout. In the City Council election, Reynaldo Chapa, Jr., Sharron Croft and Brian Wood won the three positions. Wood received 110 votes, Chapa 84, Croft 81, incumbent Vicenta (Bebe) H.

 

Ramirez 56 and Melissa Martinez 52. District 4 and District 5 voters in the RISD Board of Trustees election also came out to express their choices. In District 4, incumbent Willy Richards received 63 votes and his opponent, Jay Magana, 31. Incumbent Dawn Rudasill - District 5 also kept her place with 62 votes over challenger Larry Davidson’s 26. (There were 5 provisional votes in District 4 and 1 provisional in District 5.)
