Rocksprings Angoras pluck Eldorado Eagles in season opener

SEPTEMBER 1-The 2017 home opener for the Rocksprings Angoras went well on Friday, September 1st, 2017 as the Angoras defeated the Eldorado Eagles 34-20.

Good things happened early for the Angoras as we were able to play defense first and hold the Eagles, thanks to good plays from Geronimo Silva, Diego Perez and JP Cordova. The Angoras found the end zone soon after starting their first drive as JP Cordova sprinted in from 43 yards away. Daniel Vasquez added the extra point and the Angoras were ahead 7-0. The Angora defense made quick work of the Eldorado offense again Diego Perez found the end zone this time for a 13-0 Angora lead.

Johnathon Reyna and Alfonso Franco connected on a beautiful 24 yard touchdown pass in the second quarter and Daniel Vasquez nailed the extra point to put the Angoras ahead 20-0. The strong Angora defense was steadily hitting the Eagles hard and giving the ball back to the Angora offense. With a 20-0 lead and the ball in scoring position again the Angoras threw an interception to Eldorado and they returned it 95 yards for a touchdown. The halftime score was 20-6 Rocksprings.
