Incumbents re-elected in RISD trustee election

The City of Rocksprings and the Rocksprings Independent School District held their general elections this past Saturday a the school’s administration building. Taking the mayoral position is Brian Wood with a total of 133 votes. This was not a contested race. Council member Emma Barnebey was re-elected to her position with a total of 75 votes and LaWanda Goller was elected to the city council with a total of 87 votes. Former council member Melinda Ortiz, a write-in candidate, was not re-elected but did have a total of 57 votes.

Manuel Montoya took the RISD District 1 school board position with a total of 25 votes. Other candidates in this race were Nathaniel Bissett with 24 votes and Robert Ortiz with 14.

Brady Hyde was re-elected to the RISD District 2 position with a total of 42 votes and was contested by Anita Franco, a write-in candidate, who received 20 votes.
