Girls Wrap Up

Every year a few hard working athletes qualify for the state powerlifting meets in THSWPA and THSPA. For Rocksprings, both boy’s and girl’s teams advanced four competitors to the highest level of competition this season.

The THSWPA hosted their State Meet in Corpus Christi on March 17th at the American Bank Center Arena. The 1A/2A division was made up of 136 girls from across the state. Our ladies represented the school and community well. Suzie Rangel finished 6th in her division and Nayeli Barrera moved up a couple of places from her seeded position of 12 to finish 9th in the final standings. Trinity Meduna missed out on a second place medal when she was unable to complete her deadlifts while Rebecca Ruiz was sitting in medal contention as well, but had an issue on the Bench Press portion of the competition.

The coaches are extremely proud of the athletes and salute the hard work they put in to advance to the state level. Thanks also goes out to the parents for allowing us the opportunity to work with your children The good news for the team is that all the athletes will be back for another run at state gold next season.
