Did the rains come?
Ironically, all our predictions of possible heavy rain, hail and high winds come about the newspaper’s deadline of Tuesday. Therefore, if those do occur Tuesday and Wednesday, they don’t get reported in this week’s issue. Tuesday, weather forecasters changed their last briefing to an increased severe weather risk for Val Verde and Edwards Counties.
Possible strong to severe thunderstorms remained possible for parts of the region ahead of and along a cold front Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning. Threats included: a brief, isolated tornado, winds gusts up to 60-70 mph gusts, quarter size hail and rainfall mounts generally under 1 inch, but isolated 2 inch amounts were possible. Minor flooding was not expected.
