County voters choose incumbent Pam Elliott for Sheriff, Donald Trump wins Presidential election

In the only contested race locally in Edwards County, incumbent Pamela Elliott retained her position as Edwards County Sheriff. The past nine months have been electrically charged with challenges by  Republican Elliott and her Democrat opponent Jon Harris. Nationally, Donald J. Trump captured the victory over Hilary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election as he garnered over the 270 electoral votes needed to become the nation’s 45th president-elect. Edwards County voters came out in record numbers during the early voting time period from October 24 through November 4. Almost half of the county’s qualified, registered voters cast their votes. Of 1529 registered voters, 774 participated in early voting.
