The hated Ball Moss is devastating our beautiful trees and landscapes.

Ball moss threatens Texas Hill Country ancient and new trees

Our beautiful Texas Hill Country liveoaks and other trees are fast becoming nonexistent with the Ball Moss invasion. As we travel through the region and even right here in Edwards County, this disease is fast causing death to these huge, old trees. Experts say it doesn’t kill the trees because it’s not a parasite. But, the end result of too much Ball Moss is death for the trees.

What can be done to save the rest?

Cooksey Park on the Nueces River south of Camp Wood, along the Nueces and other rivers, the terrain in and around Kerrville to Bandera and beyond used to showcase these huge trees. Now it’s as these trees are grasping for breath and life while the Ball Moss begins to heavily laden their branches resulting in death.
