Angoras win District 31A Championship, meet Dime Box Friday, Feb. 22 for Area

The Rocksprings Angoras will be playing the #14 Dime Box Longhorns for the Area Championship in Johnson City High School with a scheduled 6 p.m. tip-off on Friday, February 22nd. Your Rocksprings Angoras finally moved into the #24 ranking according to the latest Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Poll.  The Angoras closed out the district campaign with an undefeated season by defeating Comstock 92 - 27 in Comstock last week.  This was the Angoras’ first district championships since 2007.  Dime Box comes into the game after capturing the Bi-District Championship over Spurger with a 75 - 37 win on Monday, February 18th.  The win gives the Longhorns an overall 23-8 record entering the 2nd round playoff game. Dime Box is led by 6’3 Senior Forward, Elijah Gamble, who is averaging a double double in points and rebounds in all the games this season for Dime Box. Gamble is also the middle of the pressing defense after made shots and he has numerous blocks to his credit.  Dime Box will play man to man defense if the opposing teams get the ball past court.  The Longhorns rely on their height, quickness and forcing other teams into turnovers.
