#24 Angoras upset #14 Dime Box in Area Championship

The Rocksprings Angoras traveled last Friday, February 22nd to Johnson City, Texas at LBJ High School to take on the District 30 Runner up Dime Box Longhorns.  Rocksprings had the first round Bi-District bye with their undefeated District 31A campaign and perfect 14 - 0 record.

All the basketball projection sites had Dime Box winning this game and moving on to face Leggett (District 29A Champions). Dime Box had disposed of the Spurger Pirates 70 - 37 in a very lopsided game.

The contest started out slowing for the Angoras as Dime Box took the opening tip off and scored an easy lay-up, but Rocksprings countered with a quick bucket in the paint.  After the first two minutes Dime Box would slow down tempo and they would connect on six long range three pointers in the first half to Rocksprings 0.

The first quarter would end with Dime Box in the lead 18 - 14.  The second quarter would see the Angoras still remain sluggish and at the 5:15 mark the Longhorns extended their lead to 13 points with a 3 pointer that saw Rocksprings trailing 28 - 15.
