Two members from the Edwards County 4-H will be participating in separate state events this week. Bess Dunbar a long time 4-H member has been selected to attend the 4-H Livestock Ambassador Short Course at Texas Tech University this week. This is an in depth workshop being held in Lubbock over a three day period. Bess was chosen along with 18 other 4-H members from the state to attend this event, this workshop will cover topics from food safety, pork and lamb grading, breeding and genetics, live animal evaluations, and giving effective presentations. This workshop is designed to prepare kids who wish to attend college and pursue degrees in the Agriculture industry. Only the top applicants were selected for this event. It is an honor to have Bess Dunbar represent myself and our 4-H club.
Seth Shanklin, another long time Edwards County 4-H member, will be participating in the State 4-H horse show in Abilene this week. This will be Seth’s second year to participate in the State horse show’s “Team Penning” competition. We wish him the best of luck at the state horse show this year and I am also honored to have Seth represent the 4-H at Abilene.
I would also like to encourage you to get your children involved and discover all the possibilities 4-H has to offer.
