West Texas Boy Scouts invited to reunion

- The EOBOC is hosting a reunion of all West Texas Boy Scouts from the mid-twentieth century to commemorate the one hundred year anniversary of scouting in America. This will give former scouts the opportunity to reunite with friends from days gone by. Although not particularly exclusive, generally speaking the reunion would be relevant to those persons who were scouts from an era roughly between 1940 and 1980.
Any of these persons who are interested in such an event are invited to the T 9 C Ranch just outside of Eldorado on Saturday, February 6th for a day of reminiscing about scouting days of old at Camps Sol Mayer, Louis Farr and Fawcett, Jamborees, Aquatic Camps, Philmont, Canoe Trips and Order of the Arrow activities. It is hoped that participants will drag out old photographs and other memorabilia from their days in scouting.
There is no charge for the event and gates will open from 10 a.m. until dark, at which time there will be a fireworks display. Stew, chili, coffee and tea will be served at noon and attendees are encouraged to snacks, desserts and other drinks, as well as their stories about any experiences that they had during that time, to share with the group. The only request is that persons who plan to attend should contact Jim Runge at 325-853-3678 or eoboc@hotmail.com by February 1st, in order for the proper preparations to be made.
To date, there have been inquiries from former scouts in Ballinger, Bandera, Big Lake, Brady, Christoval, Del Rio, Eden, Eldorado, Fort Stockton, Junction, McCamey, Menard, Mertzon, Ozona, Rankin, Robert Lee, Rocksprings, San Angelo, Sanderson, Sonora and Uvalde. However, it should be emphasized that any former scout who is reading this communique is welcome to attend, regardless of where they were involved in scouting. Also, all interested parties should help spread the word to their scout friends in order to reach more possible participants.
The T 9 C Ranch is located four miles west of Eldorado on the Airport Road. For questions, further directions or any other information, prospective participants may reach Jim Runge at either of the above contact points. Come spend a fun day catching up with your old friends’ life exploits, and re-live scouting experiences from the early days of the organization.
