Marjorie Sullivan, Debbie Cox, Shelia Rains, and Ben Cox proudly announce that their newly formed company, Hill Country Transport Services is in operation. Following is a brief history of the owners. Marjorie Sullivan grew up in Providence Rhode Island so she is a transplanted Texan. She graduated from the University of Texas with a BS in Nursing and then worked at University Hospital in the Emergency Room for many years. When she reached the burnout point she entered the existing field of medical research as a Research Monitor. She will continue with her present company for a while longer. Marge is also active in the community and has served on the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Debbie has spent the majority of her life in Camp Wood having graduated from Nueces Canyon High School. She graduated from Sul Ross State University with a Bachelor of Art in English with a specialization in math. She is teaching junior high math and high school art at Nueces Canyon CISD. She is married to Josh Cox, Fire Chief of the Nueces Canyon Volunteer Fire Department, and is an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary along with the Wintergarden District Ladies Auxiliary Firemen’s Association. Shelia Rains grew up in a military family and has traveled extensively but upon retirement from United Services Automobile Association returned to Camp Wood where she has many family members. Shelia’s expertise is finance. She holds a Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant and Senior Claims Law Associate degrees. She continues to do some financial consulting and tax work. Shelia has served on the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors as a board member and as Treasurer. Ben grew up in Camp Wood and graduated from Nueces Canyon High School and attended Abilene Christian University and Sul Ross State University. He has served the community extremely well in various capacities. Ben was Mayor of Camp Wood for six years and has served on the Chamber of Commerce for 15 years on and off as President and as a board member. He is also the owner and editor of the Canyon Broadcaster and the Hwy 90 View. While HCTS is not a 911 Emergency Medical Service, in the event of a major disaster they will make their services available to the volunteer agencies in the surrounding areas. We hope to soon establish a working relationship and enact mutual aid agreements with all area EMS services so together we can provide better service to our communities. It is imperative that all agencies work together with a positive attitude. To be able to provide assistance they must first increase their staff so if anyone is a certified ECA, EMT or Paramedic and looking for a job with a competitive salary please call 830-279-8112 for an application or fax your resume to 830-597-6235. HCTS is an equal opportunity employer. See picture and more information on Page 5 |
