Thursday's Internet Edition, September 09, 2010. Odds say yes. Become a regular donor in your community.
Patients undergoing chemotherapy, trauma victims, and those undergoing surgeries all need blood. Premature babies and burn victims also benefit from blood components. In fact, every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood. This month you can donate blood at your community blood drive and help keep the South Texas Blood supply healthy for patients in over 100 hospitals and clinics. Anyone who is 16 years old weighing 120 pounds (with parental consent form), or at least 17 years old weighing 110 pounds and in good general health may donate blood. All donors receive refreshments, a mini-physical and are encouraged to eat before and after donation. Identification is required.
