Six Students Place at Bandera UIL Meet

Placing at the meet were Emily Carson, who swept all four journalism events, placing 1st in Feature Writing, News Writing, Editorial Writing, and Headline Writing; Sondee Splawn, who placed 3rd in Computer Applications; Charles Carson, who placed 4th in Computer Applications; Joseph Arrevalos, who placed 6th in Spelling; Judy Lynn Drazan, who placed 6th in Literary Criticism; and Miranda Garcia, who placed 6th in Computer Science.
Because of scheduling conflicts, many of our team members were unable to attend, but also attending were Josh Cook, Dallas Ann Drazan, Bess Dunbar, Lance Lumpkins, Ryan Reed, Kory Rodriguez, Tara Varga, and Emily Yelverton.

Earn Recognition
The UIL Academic team’s second meet of the year took them to Mertzon on January 26th, where nine students placed in their respective events at the Irion County Invitational Meet.
Leading the pack once again was Emily Carson, who placed 1st in Editorial Writing, 4th in Feature Writing, and 5th in News Writing. Also placing at the meet were Jordyn Granzin, who placed 1st in Informative Speaking, Justin Dalton, who placed 2nd in Persuasive Speaking, Zach Hernandez, who placed 3rd in Computer Applications, Lance Lumpkins, who placed 4th in Social Studies; Ryan Reed, who placed 4th in Persuasive Speaking; Tara Varga, who placed 4th in Informative Speaking; Dallas Ann Drazan, who placed 5th in Persuasive Speaking; and Kelsey Wilson, who placed 6th in Prose.
Also attending the meet were Charles Carson, Ellen Carson, Josh Cook, Judy Lynn Drazan, Bess Dunbar, Fabian Franco, David Gonzales, Leah Gonzales, Zane Hernandez, Taylor Kain, Meghan Rendon, Sondee Splawn, and Tyler Varga.
