Monday's Internet Edition, September 06, 2010. EMS to host blood drive March 9th - The South Texas Blood and Tissue “Blood Mobile” will be in town Tuesday, March 9th. They will set up in the EMS parking lot next to the sheriff’s office. The drive will begin at noon and go until 6 p.m. The protocols change regularly, so if you have any questions about the medications you are taking, please come to the drive and talk with one of the technicians to see if you are able to donate. Recently the rules were changed to allow 16 year olds who weigh 120 pounds, to donate with a parents permission. If you are at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and are in good general health, you can donate blood. A photo ID is required. Please think seriously about donating blood. If you or someone you know has ever needed blood you know how important it is to have that blood available. It takes everyday people who are willing to give a little time and a pint of blood to make a huge difference in someone’s life.
