Saturday's Internet Edition, July 05, 2008. U. S. P. O. postage increase drives subscription rates up - Effective May 12, postal rates are going up again according to information on the U. S. Postal Service website. First class postage for the first ounce will go to 42 cents, postcards will increase to 27 cents, a large envelope weighing two ounces will go up 3 cents, certified mail will be $2.70, an increase of 5 cents and the cost of first class international letters will increase 3 to 4 cents, depending on the destination. Charges for other services, such as advertising mail, periodicals and packages special services will also change. Priority Mail and Express Mail changes will be announced later. Because of the new rates and the fact that we did not go up on the last rate hike, we are forced to start our new subscription rates beginning immediately for the Texas Mohair Weekly/Rocksprings Record. They will be $23 for Rocksprings and Barksdale addresses and $25 for any other addresses.
