By Thompson Temple Top score - how to score The Record of Exotics record book scores an axis buck similar to how the Boone and Crockett record book scores a typical white-tail. There are however no deductions. There are usually five measurements per side plus an inside main beam spread. Three measurements are added together. On a non-typical buck, you also add in the length of all extra points. There have been few axis bucks score just over 170 points for the typical class. There have also been a few axis bucks score just over 180 points for the non-typical class. It takes 120 points to be recognized in Record of Exotics as a bronze medal class trophy, 128 points for silver medal class and 134 points for gold medal class. The axis rack is measured as follows: First you measure the length of the antler. You start at the base on the outside and go to the tip. Then you measure the largest beam circumference between the first and second point. Then you measure the largest beam circumference between the second point and the end of the antler. Next you measure the length of the points from the bottom side. Now you measure the lengths of all extra points and enter the totals. Last you enter the inside spread of the main beams. |
