The Sam Walton Community Scholarship is one of three types of scholarships supported by the company to assist the general community with college-related expenses. Granzin is among 72,017 students across the U.S. who applied to receive a Sam Walton Community Scholarship. Winners were selected based on financial need, academic records, ACT/SAT test scores, extracurricular activities and community involvement. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. has a long history of supporting education initiatives and in 2007 contributed more then $67 million to support local schools and universities, student scholarships, educational organizations and more.
