Dorothy was born May 9, 1923, in Mertens, to Robert Lee and Sammie (Bumpus) Garrett. She lived most of her life in the Hubbard area and received her teaching certificate from North Texas State Teachers College in 1943. She and her late husband, Odis Anderson owned and operated Anderson Grocery for many years. They built the first supermarket in Hubbard in the early 1970s. After Odis’ health forced him to retire, she was an employee for many years at the First State Bank in Hubbard. She had been a member of First United Methodist Church of Hubbard and First Baptist Church of Hubbard. Dorothy loved her family, her church family and was a prayer warrior for many. She was preceded in death by her husband, Odis Anderson; two brothers, Aubrey Garrett and Robert Lee Garrett Jr; a sister, Faye Garrett Quinn and son-in-law, Bob Smith. Survivors include five children, O. D. ‘Dean’ Anderson and wife, Carolyn, of Rocksprings; Sharon McCann and husband, Doug, of League City; Jim Anderson and wife, Kathy, of Waco; Scott Anderson and wife, Donna, of Hubbard and Nancy Smith of Hubbard; 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. ***** Memorials can be sent to: Fairview CemeteryAssociation, 201 W. 3rd St. Hubbard, TX 76648. |
