- Tommie C. Barnes, Jr., 78, of Rocksprings, Texas departed this world to meet his heavenly father, September 22, 2006 at the VA hospital in Kerrville, Texas after suffering a severe stroke on April 17, 2006.
He was born at the Benskin Ranch near Barksdale, Texas on September 28, 1927 to Tommie and Olivia Barnes.
After serving in World War II, he returned home and ran the service station where Ray’s Garage is now located.
T. C. married Barbara Ann Taylor in 1946 and to this marriage three wonderful sons were born, Tommie C., John Bill and Glen.
T. C. loved ranching and was a good friend to everyone.
He was preceded in death by both parents and wife.
He is survived by: sons Tommie C. and wife Liz of Albuquerque, New Mexico; John Bill and wife Diane of Ruidoso, New Mexico and Glen and wife Janice of Sealy, Texas; sister Ema Jean Asbell of Rocksprings, Texas; grandchildren Sarah, Dustin, Joshua, Taylor, Rachel and Melissa; great-grandson Kadon; great granddaughters Jamie and Nicole; nephew David and niece Olivia Ann.
Ema said he was the best brother anyone could ask for.
Pallbearers were; sons, Tommie C., John Bill and Glen and friends; Bill Seale, Jay Adams, Brownie Taylor and Eddie Sweeten.
Honorary pallbearers; all his friends.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2006 in the First Baptist Church of Rocksprings. Interment followed in the family plot in the Rocksprings Cemetery. Bro. Albert Green (Pastor) presided over the services and pianist was Janice Whitehead.

Betty Lou Taylor
Betty Lou Taylor, 77, of Odessa, Texas died Saturday, September 23, 2006 in North Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born in Gas City, Oklahoma on May 20, 1929 to Roy and Ruby Lomax.
Betty Lou grew up in Rocksprings, Texas and graduated from the Rocksprings High School. After her marriage to Robert Dee Taylor in 1946, she and Bob lived in various places in Texas and then moved their family to Arkansas in the mid 1960s. Upon Bob’s retirement from Dual Drilling Company, Betty Lou and Bob resided in Odessa.
Betty Lou was a lifelong, faithful member of the Church of Christ. She is survived by three daughters: Susie Rouw and her husband Olen of Ovilla, Texas; Peggy Marshall and her husband William of Little Rock, Arkansas and Kathy Hunter of Nashville, Tennessee. She has five grandchildren: Khristy Hullett, Becky Hood, Sarah Bible, Melissa Altes and Taylor Marshall. She also has two great-grandchildren: Caitlin and J. D. Hullett.
Funeral services were Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at the Nelson Funeral Home Chapel in Rocksprings.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Alzheimer’s Association; 225 N. Michigan Ave., FL 17; Chicago, Illinois 60601-7633 or Arkansas Hospice; 5600 West 12th Street; Little Rock, Arkansas 72204 or the charity of your choice.
Pallbearers were Skipper Luce, Al Raag, Jim Meador and Michael Haag.
Honorary pallbearers were Olen Rouw and William T. Marshall
Arrangements were in care of Nelson Funeral Home of Rocksprings, Texas.
