Loving wife, mother, and community member, she was a voracious reader, an excellent card player, and a faithful friend to all who knew her. She is preceded in death by baby son Evan and mother Carol Finley of Marion, Iowa. She is survived by husband Andrew, daughter Emma, and super dog Kodiak. Also surviving are her stepfather Richard Finley, her father, three sisters, three brothers, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. No ceremony is planned for the immediate future. A marker will be erected soon at the local cemetery. Sandy has donated her body to the University of Texas Health Science Center. Sandy’s favorite charities include the Devil’s Sinkhole Society (Box 97, Rocksprings, TX, 78880) and the Little Miracles Child Care Center (Box 262.) “Red” Wallace Reid Johnson “Red” Wallace Reid Johnson, 77, of Rocksprings, Texas died October 3, 2006 in Junction, Texas. He was born November 16, 1928 in Big Lake, Texas to Bill and Flora White Johnson. Red retired from the Houston Fire Department after 25 years of service. He was also a member of the Leakey Masonic Lodge and First Baptist Church of Rocksprings. He is survived by: wife Rena Joe Patterson Johnson of Rocksprings; three special daughters: Susan Johnson of Sugarland, Texas; Lanie Vickers and husband Cully of Mountain Home, Texas and Lindsay Merritt and husband Garry of Leakey, Texas; six grandchildren: Ryan Johnson, Blake and Jacy Vickers, Cade Vickers, Luke and Sarah Merritt; mother-in-law Otela Patterson and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Ryan Johnson, Cully Vickers, Garry Merritt, Mark Crider, Cuatro Patterson, Jack Patterson, Jim and Max Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are all his friends. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2006 at the First Baptist Church of Rocksprings with Bro. Albert Green officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Rocksprings, P.O. Box 438, Rocksprings, Texas 78880 or the Real County Cancer Society, P.O. Box 617, Leakey, Texas 78873. Arrangements are in care of Nelson Funeral Home of Rocksprings. |
