He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict, then went on to serve in the National Guard. He had 30 years of service with Western Electric and many years in the Knights of Columbus including Top Membership Recruiter and past Grand Knight. He also had a long career as an usher at Holy Family, St. Francis and St. Raymond’s Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Ester Maurer, Sr. and one sibling Sister Marion Maurer. He is survived by his wife Betty Maurer of Concan along with children Anne Wolfe and husband Antone, Jan Knox and husband Tommy and Max Maurer all of Sequin. Other survivors are grandchildren Chris Knox and wife Christie, Sam Wolfe and Kevin Knox; sisters Mary Catherine Hobin, Sister Imelda Maurer and Sister Sarah Broderick; numerous nieces and nephews and all the beloved Boedeker’s and McLaughlin’s. Rosary was held Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at St. Raymond Catholic Church in Leakey, Texas. Services were held Thursday, December 11, 2008 at the St. Raymond Catholic Church. Burial followed in the Leakey Floral Cemetery in Leakey, Texas with Father Ken Dakin officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Uvalde, Leakey Friends of the Library or a charity of your choice. Services were under the direction of Nelson Funeral Home of Leakey, Texas. |
