She was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She truly loved her family and friends, never knew a stranger and helped everyone that she could. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Rocksprings, Hill Country Cattle Women, a member of the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, taught Bible studies at Little Miracles Child Care, an active participant of The American Cancer Society, Rocksprings Woman’s Club and enjoyed bridge clubs in Rocksprings and Leakey. She graduated from St. Mary’s Hall in San Antonio and attended the University of Texas in Austin. She was preceded in death by her father Jack Patterson, her husband W. R. “Red” Johnson and her son George Johnson. She is survived by daughters Susan Johnson of Houston, Lindsay Merritt and husband Gary of Leakey and Lanie Vickers and husband Cully of Mountain Home; grandchildren: Ryan Johnson, Luke and Sarah Merritt, Blake, Jacy and Cade Vickers; mother Otela Patterson of Mountain Home; sister, Allyne Crider of Mountain Home; brother, W. B. Patterson, III of Hunt and numerous nieces, nephews and friends everywhere. Services were held Monday, April 9, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rio Frio Cemetery and a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Rocksprings. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church in Rocksprings or to the Frio Canyon EMS in Leakey. Arrangements were with Nelson Funeral Home of Rocksprings, Texas. |
